Ilona Berbekar, B.Sc., R.P. Bio., P. Biol.

Ms. Berbekar provides senior project management, program development and strategic leadership for the energy sector.  She has been actively involved in the environmental industry for over 25 years. Her expertise resides in regulatory strategy, environmental planning, environmental policy development, Environmental Management Systems (EMS) development and auditing,  and Compliance Program development. She has expertise in operations and construction in the pipeline industry, midstream sector and power transmission in North America and overseas.

Ilona has extensive experience in leading and managing teams and projects of varying scopes and sizes. Recent oil and gas environmental assessment and pipeline construction projects in which Ms. Berbekar played a significant role include: the FortisBC Eagle Mountain-Woodfibre Gas Pipeline Project, TC Energy Coastal GasLink Project, Trans Mountain Expansion Project, TransCanada Energy East Project, Enbridge Northern Gateway Project and Kitimat LNG Project.  She was also closely involved in the development of climate change policy for the Canadian Energy Pipeline Association and responded on behalf of the pipeline industry to proposed changes in environmental regulation and legislation.

Equus Environmental was incorporated in 2004 and has worked in Canada, US Colombia and Kurdistan.

Ilona combines her passion for her work with her love of horses and competing and lives on a horse farm in the North Okanagan, British Columbia, Canada.
